Rick Hess
Co-Managing Partner

Mr. Hess is a founder and Co-Managing Partner of Evolution Media Capital. Mr. Hess sources, structures, and executes transactions for a variety of clients in the media, sports, and entertainment industry. In addition to being a partner of EMC, Mr. Hess also co-manages Evolution Media Partners (EMP); overseeing global investments in the sports, media, entertainment, and technology sectors.

Prior to EMC, Mr. Hess led the Film Finance group at CAA. Under his leadership the group packaged, raised financing for, or sold more than 125 feature films, including Academy Award-winning films. Previously, Mr. Hess held executive positions at TriStar Pictures and The William Morris Agency, and was President of Phoenix Pictures and Propaganda Films.

Mr. Hess is the Chairman of the Board of Inner-City Filmmakers, a non-profit production education program for low income students and that then helps them find jobs in the entertainment industry. He also serves on the Board of Directors for LA’s Promise and Chrysalis and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Mr. Hess is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Bob Stanley
Co-Managing Partner

Mr. Stanley is a founder and Co-Managing Partner of Evolution Media Capital. Mr. Stanley sources, structures, and executes transactions for a variety of clients in the media, sports, and entertainment industry. In addition to being a partner of EMC, Mr. Stanley also co-manages Evolution Media Partners (EMP); overseeing global investments in the sports, media, entertainment, and technology sectors.

Prior to founding EMC in 2008, Mr. Stanley was a Director and Head of Merrill Lynch’s Entertainment & Intellectual Property Structured Finance Group. In this role, he managed a group of finance professionals and a portfolio in excess of $900 million, which originated in excess of $2.6 billion in transactions. Mr. Stanley was responsible for the group’s strategy and transaction originating, structuring, and syndicating. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Stanley executed key transactions including financing for Marvel Entertainment, Summit Entertainment, and MGM/United Artists.

Mr. Stanley graduated from Fairfield University with a B.S. in Finance and received his M.B.A from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management.

Stuart Epstein
Co-Managing Partner

Mr. Epstein is a Co-Managing Partner of Evolution Media Capital. Mr. Epstein sources, structures, and executes transactions for a variety of clients in the media, sports, and entertainment industries. In addition to being a partner of EMC, Mr. Epstein also co-manages Evolution Media Partners (EMP), overseeing global investments in the sports, media, entertainment, and technology sectors.

Prior to EMC, Mr. Epstein was Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of NBCUniversal, where he oversaw the company’s financial planning and operations, strategic business initiatives, and real estate efforts. Previously, he spent 23 years at Morgan Stanley, where he was Managing Director and Global Head of the Media & Communications Group and a member of the Management Committee of the Investment Banking Division. In 2009, he was a key member of the team that structured the transaction in which Comcast purchased the controlling interest in NBCUniversal from General Electric.

Mr. Epstein received his BS from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

He and his wife live in New York City and have four children.

Alan Gold
Partner

Mr. Gold is a Partner and EMC’s Head of Sports Media. He has negotiated more than $50 billion of deals during his career as a sports and media executive.

During his tenure at EMC, Mr. Gold has advised premier content owners, including professional sports leagues and teams, college conferences, and international federations on their media rights and business strategy.

Clients have included the International Olympic Committee, National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, PGA of America, PGA Tour, Riot Games, Pac-12 Conference, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, and Boston Celtics, among other leading teams/associations.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Gold was a Managing Director of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), where he led its corporate development expansion. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of Tennis Channel, spearheading the launch of the US Open Series.

Previously, Mr. Gold was an executive at the National Football League, overseeing television, new media, and corporate development activities for the league outside of the United States. He also served as Head of Business Affairs for NFL Enterprises.

Mr. Gold graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Vermont and received a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

David Pogoda
Partner

Mr. Pogoda is a founder and Partner at EMC. Mr. Pogoda is responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of media and entertainment M&A and financing transactions. He also oversees all internal operations of EMC including accounting, audit, operations and fund management.

Prior to founding EMC, Mr. Pogoda was a Vice President at Merrill Lynch’s Entertainment & Intellectual Property Structured Finance Group, where he focused on capital solutions for clients in the IP and Entertainment space. Previously, he served as a Vice President at Cerberus Capital Management in the Special Situation Lending division. In this role, he managed a $400 million portfolio, while focusing on underwriting, structuring, and executing debt transactions.

Mr. Pogoda graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maryland and spent one year at the London School of Economics.

Salim Mitha
Partner

Salim is a Partner at EMP where he will focus on the origination, structuring, and execution of investments in addition to advising company portfolio investments. His operational and investment experience derives from launching, running and successfully exiting three separate technology startup companies, as well as from senior roles in management consulting, investment banking and technology.

Most recently, Salim was Executive Vice President of Playtika/Caesars Interactive, the largest mobile social casino gaming company in the world which sold for $4.4 billion in 2016 to a consortium of Chinese investors which included Jack Ma of Alibaba. At Playtika, Salim was responsible for BINGO Blitz, a top 10 grossing game in the world since inception. Salim was responsible for all commercial aspects of the business including Product, Monetization and Marketing, eventually leading to the first sale of the business to Caesars.

Previously, Salim was the co-Founder & COO of Wahanda, a European based online health, beauty & wellness content, community and e-commerce marketplace which was sold to Recruit Holdings of Japan in 2015. Salim also spent four years as the European Managing Director of Yahoo! Search and Social Search based in London, and worked as a technology, media and telecoms banker at Merrill Lynch Europe, and as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. and A.T. Kearney.

He received his B.S. Economics from Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Salim also speaks fluent Spanish.

Jay Adya
Managing Director

Mr. Adya is a Managing Director at EMC, and is responsible for negotiating and advising on more than $8 billion in media deals, including the International Olympic Committee, Pac-12 Conference, Texas Rangers, and Boston Celtics, among others.

Prior to joining EMC, he was a co-founder of Takkle.com, a social networking site for high school athletes with more than 1.5 million monthly unique visitors. Mr. Adya raised more than $8 million in equity financing from leading sports and venture investors, and structured partnership agreements with Sports Illustrated, YouTube, and Nike. He also served as a management consultant at the Mitchell Madison Group and Deloitte Consulting, where he advised private equity, venture capital, and media clients on restructurings, potential investments, and new business opportunities.

Mr. Adya graduate Cum Laude with a B.A. from Columbia University and a M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Carmen Carpenter
Managing Director

Ms. Carpenter is a Managing Director at EMC and is responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of media and entertainment M&A and financing transactions.

Prior to joining EMC, Ms. Carpenter served as Senior Vice President at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Entertainment Industries Group, where she oversaw the bank’s portfolio of more than $1 billion in direct commitments to companies in the content production and distribution sector.

Previously, Ms. Carpenter held similar positions as Director at Royal Bank of Scotland’s Entertainment and Media Group and Director at GE Capital’s Media, Communications and Entertainment Group.  She began her career at Comerica Bank’s Entertainment Group, where she managed a portfolio of single-picture project loans, print and advertising financings, and corporate facilities.

Ms. Carpenter holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Ian Doody
Principal

Mr. Doody is a Principal at EMP and is responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of investments.  With more than a decade of experience in the media and finance industries, Mr. Doody is focused on the company’s entertainment, media, and sports investment activities.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Doody worked at a start-up media company, Plum TV, where he guided business development initiatives, programming strategy and content creation, and branded entertainment partnerships. Previously, he was a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst for Birinyi Associates, an equity research firm and hedge fund, and Sea Carriers Capital, a hedge fund.

Mr. Doody holds a B.S. from the Callaway School of Business at Wake Forest University.

Caroline Rebello
Principal

Ms. Rebello is a Principal at EMC, and focuses on sports media advisory and sports M&A advisory. Clients include the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and Nashville Predators.

Prior to joining EMC, Ms. Rebello served as a Senior Associate at SCP Worldwide, the holding company of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and MLS’ Real Salt Lake. In this role, she evaluated and executed new and strategic investments across sports, media, entertainment, and real estate. She also managed the monetization of media broadcast rights in North America for the CONMEBOL 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying tournament.  Previously, Ms. Rebello was an Investment Associate at TowerBrook Capital Partners, a transatlantic private equity firm with $2.5 billion in assets under management. She began her career as a member of the Global Consumer Group in the Investment Banking Division of Citigroup Global Markets, executing more than $20 billion in transactions.

Ms. Rebello graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Fabian Stechel
Principal

Mr. Stechel is a Principal at EMC, and focuses primarily on sports media advisory. During his career he has negotiated and advised on more than $8 billion in media deals. Clients have included the International Olympic Committee, National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, PGA of America, Women’s Tennis Association and the Pac-12 Conference among other top sports organizations.

Prior to joining EMC, Fabian Stechel served as Project Manager at SCP Worldwide, a sports, media and entertainment company based in NY and the holding company of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and MLS’ Real Salt Lake. In this role, he worked on sports media investment opportunities across all media distribution platforms.

Mr. Stechel received a M.S. in International Business from the University of Maastricht, The Netherlands graduating among the top 10% of his class.  He also attended the University of California at Berkeley for study abroad.

Mr. Stechel speaks both German and English fluently.

Kirill Savitski
Vice President

Mr. Savitski is a Vice President at EMC, and is responsible for advising media, sports, and entertainment companies on a variety of strategic and financial transactions with regard to their financing needs.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Savitski served as an Investment Banking Associate at Macquarie Capital, where he executed more than $10 billion of transactions, while focusing on infrastructure, renewable energy, and project finance advisory.

Mr. Savitski graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University with a B.S. in Finance and Economics.

Mr. Savitski speaks both Russian and English fluently.

Anubhav Srivastava
Vice President

Mr. Srivastava is a Vice President at EMC and is responsible for origination, structuring, and execution of sports, media, and entertainment M&A and financing transactions.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Srivastava was an Associate Director in the Strategy and Business Development group at 20th Century Fox. In this role, he evaluated financial and strategic merit of potential investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and the development, evaluation and implementation of strategic initiatives across Fox’s theatrical, home entertainment, television, and digital businesses.

Prior to Fox, Mr. Srivastava was an Investment Banking Associate at Deutsche Bank’s Media and Telecom group, where he structured and executed a wide-range of transactions including M&A, defense tactics and capital raises from public and private sources. Mr. Srivastava started his career as a TMT consultant at Capgemini Ernst & Young.

Mr. Srivastava holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Tucker Brown
Vice President

Mr. Brown is a Vice President at EMC and assists with the origination, structuring, and execution of sports, media, and entertainment M&A and financing transactions.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Brown worked as an Investment Banking Analyst for Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Financial Institutions Group, focusing on financial technology mergers and acquisitions, and capital raising.

Mr. Brown graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in International Business and Mandarin from Duke University.

Brian MacInnes
Controller

Mr. MacInnes is the Controller for EMP and is responsible for accounting, treasury, and reporting operations.  Mr. MacInnes also assists EMP portfolio companies with these functions.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. MacInnes ran various accounting departments for start-ups including Beachmint, SERVIZ and TRUECar, the latter of which he helped file the Company’s initial S-1 for their IPO in May 2014. Previously, Mr. MacInnes was an Audit Manager in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) group at Deloitte LLP in Los Angeles.

Mr. MacInnes received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics with an Emphasis in Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. MacInnes is a licensed CPA in the State of California.

Tavish Zausner-Mannes
Vice President, Operations

Mr. Zausner-Mannes is the Vice President of Operations at EMC, serving as the Designated Compliance Principal for the firm’s Broker-Dealer, and is responsible for handling all Compliance and Regulatory matters.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Zausner-Mannes served as an Assistant Vice President at JPMorgan Chase, where he worked as part of the Trade Compliance Group supporting multiple Private Wealth Management divisions.

Mr. Zausner-Mannes graduated from Skidmore College with a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics.

Michael LoFaso
Vice President

Mr. LoFaso is a Vice President of EMP and is responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of investments, as well as portfolio company monitoring.

Prior to joining EMP, Mr. LoFaso worked at Riverstone Holdings, where he focused on private equity leveraged buyouts and growth equity transactions. Mr. LoFaso began his career as an analyst in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley, focused on M&A transactions and capital raises for public and private security offerings.

Mr. LoFaso received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Colgate University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Economics.

Michael DiLorenzo
Senior Associate

Mr. DiLorenzo is a Senior Associate at EMP and is responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of investments, as well as portfolio company monitoring.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. DiLorenzo worked at Shamrock Capital, where he focused on leveraged buyout and growth equity transactions for Media, Entertainment, and Communications businesses, as well as the Growth Equity group of Kayne Anderson, where he focused on growth equity transactions for enterprise software businesses. Mr. DiLorenzo began his career as an analyst in the investment banking division of Deutsche Bank, where he was a member of the Media & Telecom Group.

Mr. DiLorenzo graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh with a BSBA in Finance and Accounting and a minor in Economics.

Sam Riber
Executive

Mr. Riber is an Executive at EMC and focuses on sports media advisory and sports M&A advisory.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Riber worked as a Consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. In that role he advised companies in a variety of different industries, including several in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications sector. During his tenure at BCG, he also worked as a Secondee with the Dallas Stars Hockey Club, where he devised and implemented several strategic initiatives.

Mr. Riber graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Jessica Wang
Senior Associate

Ms. Wang is a Senior Associate at EMC and assists with the origination, structuring, and execution of investments.

Prior to joining EMC, Ms. Wang worked as an Investment Banking Analyst for Deutsche Bank as a part of the Technology, Media and Telecom group.

Ms. Wang graduated from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce with a B.S. in Finance and Management

David Ma
Associate

Mr. Ma is an Associate at EMC and assists with the origination, structuring, and execution of sports, media, and entertainment M&A and financing transactions.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Ma worked as an Investment Banking Analyst for Imperial Capital.

Mr. Ma graduated from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University with a B.S. in Finance and International Business, as well as a minor in the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology.

Evan Deahl
Associate

Mr. Deahl is an Associate at EMC and assists with origination, structuring, and execution of sports, media, and entertainment M&A and financing transactions.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Deahl was an analyst at MTS Partners, an investment bank dedicated to providing M&A advisory and capital raising services to companies in the healthcare industry.

Mr. Deahl is a graduate of the Roy and Diana Vagelos Program in Life Sciences and Management at the University of Pennsylvania, holding a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School and a B.A. in Biological Basis of Behavior from the College of Arts and Sciences.
