Mr. Wang is the Executive Chairman of Evolution Media China, a newly-established media and internet investment platform closely associated with TPG Growth and Creative Artists Agency, the leading Hollywood professional firm.
Prior to EMC, Mr. Wang was a Partner at TPG (previously Texas Pacific Group), a leading global investment firm with approximately $70 billion in assets under management. During this period, Mr. Wang served as a Co-Chairman of TPG Greater China and the Head of TPG Growth North Asia. Previously, Mr. Wang was the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of TOM Group Limited (stock code: 2383) a Chinese-language media conglomerate in Greater China. Since middle 1993, he spent seven years at Goldman Sachs in both New York and Hong Kong in various positions including Executive Director and the Head of China High Technology in Hong Kong. He was a founding member of Goldman Sachs’ Asia private equity team. Before Goldman Sachs, Mr. Wang was a manager at HSBC Private Equity in Hong Kong and a strategic consultant with McKinsey & Co. in Chicago, USA. In 1991, he founded Amerinvest Group of companies, personal investment companies that focus primarily in real estate, forestry, natural resources and start-up high-tech companies, etc.
Mr. Wang graduated from Yunnan University, China, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He holds a Master of Science degree in Forestry and its Relation to Land Use, a Master of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, all from the University of Oxford, UK.
Ian Lee is a Chief Financial Officer and Operating Partner of Evolution Media China. Ian Lee is a senior executive with rich experiences in media, internet and advertising.
Prior to EMC, Mr. Lee was a CFO of TPG RMB Funds. Prior to joining TPG, Mr. Lee was Chief Operating Officer at DMG, a leading Chinese entertainment and communication company. Prior to DMG, he worked at Omnicom Media Group from 2005 to 2012 in roles from Finance Director, Chief Financial Officer and President & Chief Operating Officer for its China operations.
He joined News Corp in 1998, where he spent seven years in Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai & Hong Kong offices in various positions from Management Accountant at News Limited, Finance Director of ChinaByte, Vice President of STAR China (News Corp’s China Operation), Senior Vice Present of STAR Group (News Corp’s Asian satellite television business).
Mr. Lee received his bachelor degree in Genetics from Sichuan University, China and his master of management from University of Technology, Sydney.
Jason Ding is the President of Evolution Media China and oversees the investment activities of the newly-established media and internet investment platform.
Prior to EMC, Mr. Ding was a partner of Bertelsmann Asia Investments (BAI), a corporate investment vehicle under the Europe’s largest media conglomerate Bertelsmann, where he spent 8 years from 2008 to 2016 in Beijing. During this period, Mr. Ding covered various sectors including consumer internet, media content, finance technology, enterprise services and education. He led the investment into more than 20 startups with 5 companies later grow to billion-dollar valuations. Mr. Ding has been elected into “40 Investors Under 40 Years Old” in China since 2013, for 4 consecutive years. Prior to BAI, he was an investment associate in China Growth Capital and started his career as a technology specialist intern with Accenture.
Mr. Ding received his bachelor degree of software engineering from Nanjing University. He passed CFA Level Three in 2009.
Lin Zhang is a Vice President of Evolution Media China and is responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of media and entertainment venture capital investment.
Prior to joining EMC, Ms. Zhang served as Vice President of Shenzhen Co-Win Venture Capital Investments Limited, focusing on Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) VC/PE investments. Preciously, Ms. Zhang worked for Huatai United Securities in investment banking department.
Ms. Zhang holds a M.A. in International Relations and a M.S. in Finance from Syracuse University, and B.S. in Economics from China Foreign Affairs University.
WenWei Wu is a Vice President of Evolution Media China and is responsible for sourcing, origination, structuring, and execution of internet, media and entertainment venture capital investment.
Prior to joining EMC in 2015, Mr. Wu was General Manager of Shanghai Office of Cyber Agent Ventures, VC vehicle of a Japanese internet conglomerate. In this role, he invested in 10+ internet startups in gaming, entertainment, social network, e-learning and O2O in early stage. One company has grown into the world's largest online-English tutoring platform with a valuation exceeding $1billion. Mr. Wu was elected "2016 Top Young Venture Capitalist" by China Venture, a renowned research institution specializing in capital market. Before joining Cyber Agent Ventures, he worked in Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Consultant for financial due diligence and internal control audit.
Mr. Wu graduated from Shanghai International Studies University with a B.S. in Japanese. He is a CICPA and passed Level Three test of CFA.
